Strategic Vision
The strategy of the xFORMAL project is based on specific methodological choices and thematic axes that are consistent with the aim of promoting non-formal and informal learning methods rooted in European cultural contexts and oriented towards social inclusion, educational innovation and the valorisation of cultural heritage. Firstly, the project aims to reactivate the continent’s historical memory through the rediscovery of pre-Roman European cultural heritage, including historical groups and minorities that are often marginalised in school curricula, in order to highlight the common roots that, despite their fragmentation, have contributed to the emergence of a plural and shared European cultural identity.
Secondly, the cultural landscape is not seen as a mere container for material goods, but as an active educational tool that can become a symbolic and material space for the construction of individual and collective identities. At the pedagogical level, the project follows a contemporary pedagogical approach that favours self-directed, reflective and continuous learning, especially in unstructured and dynamic contexts typical of non-formal education.
At the operational level, the project involves the development of an e-game inspired by the Game-Based Learning methodology, which aims to convey cultural and scientific content in an accessible, engaging and interactive way, through a main narrative and a series of mini-games that stimulate intrinsic motivation and promote experiential learning.
Finally, the entire project is based on an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral epistemological and methodological perspective that brings together knowledge and practises from the fields of education, information and communication technologies, cultural heritage valorisation and social research, promoting the construction of an open, collaborative and transdisciplinary training ecosystem.
