Social and cultural challenge

The xFORMAL project aims to create educational opportunities in contexts where formal education is lacking, ineffective or absent, and to intervene where traditional education systems fail to meet the needs of individuals and communities. It also aims to encourage citizens to create their own personal learning environments by promoting reflective practises and self-directed learning processes that can adapt to different and constantly evolving contexts.

The project also aims to help define and reproduce the position of the individual within society, supporting their ways of subjectivisation and identity formation in their dynamic relationship with the social and cultural contexts to which they belong. In this regard, the aim is to promote full, conscious and meaningful participation in the social and cultural life of local communities, understood as spaces for active citizenship and social cohesion.

Finally, xFORMAL promotes the overcoming of disciplinary boundaries between the humanities and social sciences (SSH) and information and communication technologies (ICT) by fostering collaboration between the academic and non-academic worlds in order to develop innovative, shared and integrated practises and tools.
