HOW TO PLAY

Welcome to the xFORMAL game!
Accompanied by an ancient character, you will be guided into the past of various cities or regions. Depending on where you are, you will follow a pathway ☐ through several stops ○ and locations △ where you can discover ancient monuments or objects and solve challenges ✕. The pathways are located in Italy, Spain, France and Poland. If you can’t travel, you can try the virtual pathway (7. The Celtic / Western Indo-European Space), which runs from Italy through France, reaching Spain and Portugal.

You can get help to solve the challenges by clicking on the i button at the top right, but you will have to spend some coins $ from your small treasure to do so. At the beginning of the game, you have five coins: if you give the correct answers, you will earn more coins. We recommend that you work independently and avoid looking for solutions in the information you find in the museum halls. Try this experiment on your own, without seeking help from museum panels or asking the staff.

When you have solved all the challenges in a location, you can unlock a part of an ancient riddle. At the end of the pathway, all parts will come together to form the complete riddle. After completing a questionnaire at the end of the game, you will enter the xFORMAL gate, check the riddles’ solution and meet other players across Europe.
